Eaton Community College is seeking a collaborative, dedicated and highly motivated Arts teacher to join our Independent Public School. To be successful in this role you will be committed to maximising our students’ potential and providing a relevant and engaging learning experience.
The successful applicant will ideally have the requisite professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school curriculum and have proven success working with students from Year 7 to Year 12. To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to teach to the Senior School level in Drama, Design: Photography and Media Production & Analysis.
In addition, you should have the capacity to use Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) in a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) context including the use of restorative practices to build rapport and manage student behaviour.
The College is a medium-sized school catering for approximately 580 students from Year 7 to Year 12 and is an Independent Public School. We offer a wide range of courses from vocational education and training (VET), General and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) subjects. We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school prioritising whole school collaboration, engaging staff, students and parents in the development and evolution of shared expectations. The successful applicant will possess instructional classroom management strategies for effective classroom behaviours, which facilitate learning. This focus on social and emotional development is crucial to the success of the delivery of the curriculum. The teaching expectation is every teacher is delivering explicit teaching strategies and utilising formative assessment and data analysis to provide quality and effective teaching practices that target students’ needs. This year we have embraced Professional Learning Communities focusing on two major areas: Quality Teaching and Social & Emotional Learning. These communities are a significant part of our whole school development and on-going improvements, engaging all staff in the process. We are highly supported by an internal Specialist Literacy Teacher and support personnel, with a current focus on reading, and a proactive PBS team.
In addition, we have an Education Department endorsed Specialised Learning Program for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The program is embedded within the learning environment and we demonstrate inclusive practices. Our educators access our highly skilled specialist personnel, who work with our mainstream educators towards differentiating and prioritising the strengths of individual students and their needs.
Our College is committed to providing students with the best educational opportunities and we are proud of our achievements and the contributions our students make to the College and wider community. The College site is adjacent to the Glen Huon Primary School and close to community facilities such as the Eaton Fair Shopping Centre, Dardanup Shire Offices and a community oval, placing it in the heart of the Eaton community. The site contains significant wetlands of two hectares that form the focal point of the buildings, as well as spacious, landscaped gardens and lawns that provide a beautiful outlook for active, growing students.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
