Beachlands Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Teachers – Kindergarten to Year 6 for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2022.
We are seeking applicants who are highly motivated, skilled and proactive in creating an effective, engaging and inclusive learning environment with high expectations and high care for all students. They should also be collaborative professionals, have excellent interpersonal skills, practise current pedagogy and demonstrate familiarity and expertise in all aspects of primary education. The key to this role is to have the ability to provide learning programs for our students that are differentiated and engaging, possess a strong literacy and numeracy focus and have effective classroom management skills.
Beachlands PS, the smallest of the government schools within the City of Geraldton, provides a positive and welcoming environment to its students. We have 150 students in Years 1 to 6 and approximately 45 Kindergarten and Pre-Primary Students in our purpose built centre. Our school also offers the Kindilink Program for 0 to 3 year olds and their parents.
Beachlands PS was opened in October, 1956. The school community is multicultural represented by approximately 70% Aboriginal as well a mix of other nationalities. The school has a reputation for offering differentiated learning for all students can achieve to the best of their ability. Beachlands PS prides itself on the well-established student services and pastoral care they offer.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
