The Infrastructure Division is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to the role of Manager – Strategic Projects.
The Infrastructure Division has responsibility for the planning and provision of facilities (land, buildings and equipment) which includes land planning, student enrolment forecasting and facilities planning, strategic asset management, capital works programs, maintenance and minor works programs and provision of facilities related services.
The Manager – Strategic Projects ensures that strategic asset management timelines and outputs are consistent with the strategic business priorities and objectives of the Department and Government. The role strategically consults, liaises and negotiates with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level and builds strong relationships. Current initiatives are focused on the development of a strategic partnership with the Department of Finance to improve school asset management and the delivery of the Departments Sustainability framework.
The successful applicant will have substantial knowledge and experience in achieving outcomes and delivering quality products and services consistent with customer needs and defined quality expectations.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Substantial knowledge and experience in project management within a facilities development/maintenance environment, including management of human, physical, financial, technological and information resources.
- High-level skills and experience in the provision of asset planning and related management services.
- High-level skills and experience in policy and strategy development and implementation.
- High-level verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level and to build strong relationships.
- High-level conceptual, analytical and research skills, including the ability to develop solutions to complex problems.
- High-level skills and experience in achieving outcomes and delivering quality products and services consistent with customer needs and defined quality expectations.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
