John Forrest Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a hardworking and motivated Literacy and Numeracy Teacher to join our friendly and supportive team.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing targeted and integrated learning support to students with a combination of academic and pastoral care needs within the John Forrest SC Enrichment Program. This longstanding and highly successful program delivers a differentiated curriculum using a cross-curricular and explicit teaching approach. Teachers will employ evidence based teaching and learning strategies in a caring and supportive environment.
Applicants with experience in providing a differentiated curriculum with a literacy and numeracy focus across the English and Humanities, and Social Sciences learning areas are encouraged to apply. You will ideally have a strong track record in establishing positive working relationships with students and support staff to maximise student progress. The successful applicant will work collaboratively within the Enrichment team to deliver an engaging program for students from year 7 on to establish a successful educational pathway for each student. Experience in SEN reporting and in establishing Individual Education Plans would be highly desirable.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
