Gilmore College is seeking to appoint a hardworking and motivated Deputy Principal to join our friendly and supportive team.
The successful applicant will ideally be a dynamic and highly visible leader with strong interpersonal skills who demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience to coach, develop and lead staff; support students; interact with the community; and contribute to the continuous development of the positive college culture.
The position will focus on the continuing development of successful practices to improve the student learning environment, increase student attendance and engagement, and enhance a positive culture for staff. Strengthening connections and ensuring the school provides a range of learning opportunities for all students is an integral part of the role. While in the first instance this position will focus on student wellbeing, attendance, individual case management, SAER, Year 6-7 transition and staffing, it should be noted that we are looking for someone who is flexible and can work across the whole Deputy Principal position description. The successful applicant will ideally have the capacity to work strategically and operationally simultaneously. As well as experience in school leadership, your capacity to efficiently and strategically manage others will be well regarded.
The successful applicant will be knowledgeable and ideally have experience in innovation related to student engagement and wellbeing; capturing and fostering key stakeholders and agencies to enhance student experiences, and a focus on students. The flexibility to consider all elements of the deputy principal role, including the outcomes outlined in the JDF, is important, as roles may change over time.
The successful applicant will have a deep understanding of quality teaching, learning and assessment, reflecting contemporary pedagogical practices and the ability to implement programs for development in this area. We seek a highly effective leader and highly effective coach who fosters professional growth in others. The successful applicant will ideally have the ability to think and plan strategically and to identify innovative and practical solutions to problems and challenges.
Gilmore College is an Independent public school which opened in 2008 continuing 52 previous years of secondary education provided by Kwinana Senior High School. The school continues the education of students from within the City of Kwinana area primary schools.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
