Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School (CHS) is looking for a passionate individual to make a valuable addition to their friendly teaching team in this challenging and rewarding role as Teacher – Secondary Generalist.
Ideally, the successful applicant will possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to effectively teach the Western Australian curriculum to secondary school students in Years 7 to 10. Applicants with training in Classroom Management Strategies are strongly encouraged to apply. Teaching across a variety of Learning Areas is required, which will be negotiated based on the successful applicants’ knowledge and experience.
The successful applicant will be creative in their approach, recognise students’ individualities, and be able to provide an inclusive learning environment. We are seeking a teacher who has good knowledge across a range of learning areas within the WA Curriculum.
In this role, you will apply your knowledge and expertise of teaching strategies to inspire and motivate students to engage with their education. You will be student and relationship-focused, innovative with strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and collaboratively with staff and students. The successful applicant will reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice using a variety of methods to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
Kalgoorlie-Boulder CHS was opened in 2006 and proudly provides a full range of lower secondary courses to students in Year 7-10 and meets the needs of all students in the community. The school caters for students from a diverse range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
Located 600km's east of Perth, this thriving mining centre caters for more than 900 students from Years 7 to 10. The school is committed to working collaboratively with the community to create an inclusive and innovative environment that motivates and engages students. Being a major regional centre, the city provides comprehensive facilities, services and infrastructure making it a comfortable location in which to live and work. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
