Wickham Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and committed, qualified Early Childhood Teacher to join our friendly and supportive school community.
Our school is continuing to build on our excellent school / community culture. With that in mind, we are looking for a friendly, flexible and hardworking Early Childhood Teacher to join our team.
The successful applicant will ideally possess a strong knowledge of all key elements of Early Years pedagogy and curriculum as well as an ability to inspire students to develop a passion for learning in vibrant, engaging and supportive classrooms. The successful applicant will be highly motivated, display excellent interpersonal skills and have an ability to build effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. A proven ability to effectively collaborate with, and manage support staff will be advantageous.
The successful applicant would also ideally have strong knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and the WA Curriculum, following an Intentional Play Based Learning model. You will be able to plan and teach in a collaborative environment with highly developed competencies in differentiating the curriculum, particularly in Literacy and Numeracy. The successful applicant will ideally be familiar with the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework, and would ideally be able to display the ability to embed culturally responsive practices, into their teaching and learning programs. They will provide a nurturing and supportive environment that ensures the wellbeing of all and build positive relationships with all members of the school community.
The successful applicant will ideally have knowledge of curriculum differentiation to cater for all students; with experience using tools including Talk for Writing being highly desirable.

Wickham is located in the Pilbara, approximately 50Km north of Karratha, on the coast. The community is also located close to a large, well-resourced regional centre. We’re also within reach of the Dampier Archipelago, and everything it has to offer.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
