Gidgegannup Primary School (PS) are seeking a dedicated, committed and enthusiastic Cleaner to join their amazing team who takes pride in being responsible for providing a high standard of cleanliness within the workplace.
The successful applicant will carry out internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting and rubbish removal. They will perform external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, rubbish removal, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning and removal of cobwebs. They will complete vacation cleaning duties, including the stripping and sealing of vinyl floors, window cleaning, shampooing of carpets, pressure cleaning of verandas and undercover areas, maintenance of gymnasium floors, and other such duties as required by the cleaner in charge. The successful applicant will have strong attention to detail and an ability to work autonomously.
Gidgegannup is approximately 22.5 kilometres from Midland and is the most eastern district within the City of Swan. It has a total of 2300 people representing 2.4% of the City of Swan population. Of this number, approximately 250 people reside in the town-site itself.
Gidgegannup PS was opened in 1992 and is located in the Shire of Swan which is considered to be outer Metropolitan. The school is in a very tranquil setting, being on the outskirts of town and backing onto a rural aspect. The classroom clusters are built on the contours of a hill using this elevation to advantage. Our vision is a school in partnership with the wider community, will provide an environment where everyone belongs and every child's academic, social, emotional and physical needs are nurtured.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Ability to read and apply Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety instructions and training guidelines.
- Knowledge of, and ability to, use cleaning equipment including polishers, vacuum cleaners and pressure cleaners.
- Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions and work as a member of a team.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement;
- Complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable;
- Complete any other training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
