The Statewide Services Division provides the services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement, with a focus on those students and schools that need it most. The two key executive positions will support the Executive Director Statewide Services with strong leadership across their respective portfolios to enable student achievement in line with the Department’s strategic objectives. They will be expected to work together, and with other leaders, to improve educational outcomes for students through streamlined services and increased professional capability across our public schools.
We are seeking to identify experienced, highly strategic and innovative leaders, and invite candidates with proven educational leadership at a senior level to apply.
The Assistant Executive Director roles within Statewide Services are:
Assistant Executive Director, Professional Capability
You will provide strong leadership and coordination of the professional capability activities that proactively support the Department’s strategic directions and priorities. A key focus of the role will be the promotion of teaching and leadership excellence, including through professional learning programs for school staff who teach or support students. The capacity to work collaboratively across the Division and with other senior leaders within the Department will be essential to ensure schools and regions are effectively supported.
Assistant Executive Director, Service Delivery
You will be a strong educational leader who can devise and implement integrated support strategies that will improve educational outcomes and student achievement. This role will oversee the coordination and integration of responsive specialist support services and lead the implementation and management of a new cohesive single entry point process to support schools.
This process will identify applicants suitable for appointment to Assistant Executive Director roles in Statewide Services. Appointments may be made from this process to vacancies that arise until the end of 2021. Appointments will be up to five (5) year fixed term, full time appointments.
One selection process will be used and applicants may not be assessed as suitable for both Assistant Executive Director positions within Statewide Services.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
