The Statewide Services Division provides the services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement, with a focus on those students and schools that need it most.
The Service Directors will provide high quality leadership, support, and expert advice in relation to their portfolio, across the Division and to the senior executive team. Their ability to work collaboratively across the Division and with other senior leaders to support schools to improve student achievement, will be vital to the success of the role. They will be responsible for ensuring that services are integrated and tailored to the contexts of schools across the public school system.
We are seeking to fill the new roles of Service Directors and invite candidates with proven educational leadership experience to apply.
There are three positions to be filled:
Service Director, Leadership
You will build the skill and capacity of school leaders, aspirants, and other employees with leadership responsibilities by providing high quality professional learning and leadership development. This position will promote career development pathways and oversee the integration and delivery of core system-wide professional learning for school leaders
Service Director - Primary, Early Childhood and Education Support
You will provide leadership and curriculum support to schools to improve outcomes for primary-aged students and students in education support settings, and lead the delivery of coordinated early childhood, K-6 and education support expertise to regions and to schools identified as requiring support. This will be achieved by supporting schools to develop and implement contextual approaches to quality teaching and learning to improve student achievement.
Service Director - Secondary Schools, District High Schools and Post-School Pathways
You will provide leadership and support to schools to deliver the curriculum and improve outcomes in secondary schools and district high schools, and lead the delivery of coordinated expertise to regions and to secondary schools and district high schools identified as requiring support. This will be achieved by supporting schools to develop and implement contextual approaches to quality teaching and learning to improve student achievement.

In addition to these work related requirements, the Department of Education has identified six critical personal attributes (the Department’s Leadership Attributes) that are the pre-conditions for successful educational leadership. These define the personal attributes and dispositions that are expected of the Service Directors. These attributes are;

- Interpersonal acumen,
- Self- awareness and
- Drive to excel.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our Division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
