Appointment Pool
Oberthur Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Teachers – Primary, Kindergarten to Year 6, for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 and 2022 school years, up to the end of Term 3, 2022.
We are seeking applicants who are motivated, innovative, and possess high quality teaching skills and knowledge. They will be committed to ongoing professional growth and development, support current whole-school processes and engage in collaborative planning.
Suitable applicants will ideally have the ability to inspire students to develop an enthusiasm for learning in vibrant, engaging and supportive classrooms. The ability to build effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community is highly desirable. You should possess a strong capacity to plan, present and assess challenging and engaging programs and have a deep understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum.
Our school is a Visible Learning school and knowledge of these strategies including iSTAR may be advantageous. Our school operates collaborative year level teams, so a commitment to collaboration and teamwork, as well as demonstrating effective communication skills, is a priority for our school. All teachers at Oberthur PS are encouraged to engage in coaching and peer observation processes.
Our school operates a one-to-one BYOD program using Apple devices. Knowledge of how to embed technology in to the learning program could be an advantage.
Oberthur PS has an embedded Chinese Immersion program from Pre Primary to Year 6. There is an expectation that applicants will be highly supportive of the program. It is not an expectation that applicants will be able to speak Mandarin.
Oberthur PS located in Bull Creek and caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our school has an excellent reputation in the community and is a school of choice for families from many different backgrounds. This, along with our ideal size and location, contributes to the strong family feeling and atmosphere which is highly valued by both students and their families.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
