Eaton Community College is seeking two (2) enthusiastic School Officers to join their friendly team.
We currently have the following positions available:
- 2 x - six (6) month fixed term, full-time positions with possible extension and/or permanency
All positions will commence Term 2, 2021
The successful applicants will have an excellent focus on team work, self-motivation and initiative and be able to model excellence in the delivery of administrative support for school leaders. School Officers work within an environment of constant change and must possess the ability to prioritise tasks and meet competing deadlines.
We are looking for individuals who have a broad range of experiences and set of skills relevant to a variety of tasks undertaken by school officers working in high school environments. Specific experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
- Customer Service
- Personal Assistant
- Create and prepare materials for publication
- SIS (Student Information System)
- Financial Processes – Billing, Reconciliations, GST, End of Month
- Reporting to Parents
- Timetabling
- Vocational Education Training / Workplace Learning
As School Officers can be assigned different duties over time, applicants should possess an eagerness to take on the challenge of learning skills should the need arise.
The successful applicants will be engaged under the Public Service Award and generally be required to work School Vacation periods; self-motivation, initiative and the ability to work unsupervised is highly desirable. They will have strong organisational skills as School Officers work within an environment of constant change and must be able to prioritise tasks and meet competing deadlines.
A specific focus for one of the successful applicants is to provide dedicated assistance to the Principal. This role would include but not be limited to organising and monitoring appointment calendar, attending meetings to take minutes and the ability to produce a professional standard of business documentation. An ability to operate with high level discretion and confidentiality will be highly desirable.
The College is a medium-sized school catering for approximately 580 students from Year 7 to Year 12 and is an Independent Public School. We offer a wide range of courses from Vocational Education Training (VET), General and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) subjects. We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school prioritising whole school collaboration, engaging staff, students and parents in the development and evolution of shared expectations.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and /or preparing financial returns.
- Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
