Tammin Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of flexible and dedicated Education Assistant – Mainstream staff for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2022.
There are currently two vacancies available for an immediate start:
1 x Education Assistant – Mainstream, 0.8FTE (4 days a week/Job share available) in the Senior (Yr3-6) class
1 x Education Assistant – Mainstream, 0.2FTE (1 day a week on a Friday) in the Junior (K-2) class
Due to the location and lack of public housing in the town of Tammin, the school are seeking local applicants or applicants who are willing to travel; as there is currently no availability of rental housing in the area. Applicants should consider this prior to applying for this pool.
The role of an Education Assistant - Mainstream is to support the teaching and learning of students through assisting the teacher, in delivering planned education programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Employees at this level work under direct supervision performing tasks that require basic competencies using established methods and procedures.
Tammin town is 184 kilometres east of Perth and midway between the towns of Cunderdin and Kellerberrin on the Great Eastern Highway. The school caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 6. With a history that spans 117 years, they are proud of their friendly, caring and inclusive atmosphere.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
Education Assistants working with Kindergarten students may be required to have, or be actively working towards, a Certificate lll in Education Support (or approved equivalent) in order to meet the educator-to-student ratio outlined in the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care.
Approved equivalent qualifications are published by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
