Carine Senior High School (SHS) is seeking two (2) enthusiastic Design and Technology Teachers to join their friendly team.
We currently have the following positions available:
- 1 x – permanent full-time (1.0FTE) position
- 1 x – eighteen (18) month fixed term, part-time (0.8FTE) position with possible extension and/or permanency
All positions will commence Term 3, 2021
The successful applicant will be able to teach contexts within the Design and Technology learning area (Wood/Metal/Engineering/Robotics/Photography) from Year 7 to Year 12. The ability or willingness to teach Year 7 and/or 8 Digital Technology is also desirable.
We are seeking applicants who are collaborative, effective communicators with parents, staff and students, and passionate and engaging educators. Suitable candidates will promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential.
As teachers at our school, you will have strengths in working in a dynamic, multi-contextual and collaborative team. You will require sound interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and be able to work cooperatively in a Technologies Learning Area team. Sound classroom management, the ability to develop rapport and motivate students, willingness to differentiate curriculum to cater for individual student needs and use of engaging of teaching strategies is essential.
Carine SHS is a co-educational secondary school, located in the North West suburbs of Perth close to the ocean and approximately 15 kilometres from the city centre. Carine SHS represents the very best that government schools have to offer and is a proud independent public school as evidenced by winning the WA Secondary School of the Year in 2017. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
