East Kimberley College (EKC) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Teacher – English to join their friendly team. The ability to teach up to and including ATAR English is highly desirable with the ability to teach ATAR Psychology being desirable.
EKC has an explicit instruction approach, by using a school wide pedagogy with the focus of moving children’s knowledge from short term to long term memory. Every learning environment is designed for student engagement to drive high levels of academic improvement and performance for each student. Suitable applicants will, desirably, have the aptitude for an explicit instruction philosophy and embrace the highly developed pedagogical practise of the school.
Knowledge of Positive Behaviour in Schools and/or an ability to demonstrate this approach in a classroom environment would be an asset. Applicants should be willing to engage in whole school development and collegiate practices. Having an understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework will be advantageous.

We are seeking applicants who ideally have the knowledge and skills to utilise data such as National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) to target individual students and address student needs.
The successful applicant will be able to work productively as part of a large and dynamic English team and have the capacity to engage with all students, irrespective of their academic standing, be highly collaborative in working with colleagues and highly committed to your own ongoing professional growth and development.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
