Newton Moore Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an energetic and committed Deputy Principal who will work collaboratively with the Principal and members of the executive team to provide strategic educational leadership to achieve exceptional educational outcomes for all students.
As an integral member of the executive leadership team, you will lead and develop innovative solutions; establish and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with stakeholders, and build a culture of professional excellence with leaders, teachers and allied staff so that students are future-ready and able to contribute effectively in the wider community.
You will ideally need to an ability to work as an individual within a collaborative senior leadership team. You will be self-motivated and enthusiastic about improving the education outcomes for all students and possess a drive to support the growth of all staff. Applicants with the ability to lead with strong ethical and accountability practices will be highly regarded.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have recent and relevant whole school curriculum and pastoral care leadership. Student engagement is a high priority. Knowledge of contemporary student services systems, procedures and protocols will be highly regarded. We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school with a strong focus on building staff capacity through CMS and ISE training. We have several Conference Accredited Trained (CAT) teachers who support teachers to engage in high level reflection practices.
Knowledge and proficiency in all functions of SIS time-tabling, SSO, SIRS, SAIS, Reporting to Parents and the NAPLAN & OLNA dashboard is highly desirable. You will have an extensive understanding of all SCSA requirements for the Year 7 – 12 curriculums, assessment and reporting. Knowledge and skills in leading the development of a School Business Plan and a firm understanding of the strategic planning and processes that underpin an effective school is advantageous.
Newton Moore SHS is located in Bunbury, 175kms south of Perth. We have a strong commitment to offering innovative and best practice educational programs. The school delivers two Department of Education Approved Specialist Academic Programs: Science Horizons and Engineering Specialist. Newton Moore SHS is also Teacher Development School (TDS) for secondary science and a Lead Language School and supports with training and assisting staff across the South West. The school is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for Certificate II courses in Aquaculture and Workplace Skills.
Newton Moore SHS also provides enrichment through the following programs: Moore Academy of Sport and Health (MASH), Follow the Dream, Clontarf Football Academy and CALM Cadets.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
