Newton Moore Senior High School (SHS) is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Teachers of Science to join their team. We are looking for teachers with excellent interpersonal skills who will provide high quality learning experiences for all students in Science
The successful applicant should have a sound understanding of the WA Science Curriculum and Senior School science courses. Experience in teaching ATAR Science courses is highly desirable. Knowledge and the ability to use learning strategies that successfully engage students in science will be advantageous.
It is desirable that the successful applicant develops a supportive and positive classroom environment, possess effective interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment. The successful applicant will desirably possess an ability to elicit positive student behaviour using an educative approach. They will have a commitment to inclusive education and a strategic approach in planning for improved student outcomes. We are seeking applicants who constantly strive to improve standards and are open to professional development opportunities.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is a focus at our school therefore a willingness to work with other learning areas to provide high level learning opportunities and developing skills for the future will be highly regarded. The school also offers related Certificate II courses which require the teacher to possess a qualification in the specific area and a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment. Whilst not required these qualifications would be advantageous.

Newton Moore SHS is located in Bunbury, 175kms south of Perth. We have a strong commitment to offering innovative and best practice educational programs. The school delivers two Department of Education Approved Specialist Academic Programs: Science Horizons and Engineering Specialist. Newton Moore SHS is also Teacher Development School (TDS) for secondary science and a Lead Language School and supports with training and assisting staff across the South West. The school is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for Certificate II courses in Aquaculture and Workplace Skills.
Newton Moore SHS also provides enrichment through the following programs: Moore Academy of Sport and Health (MASH), Follow the Dream, Clontarf Football Academy and CALM Cadets.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
