Instrumental Music School Services is seeking a Classical Guitar specialist teacher to join our friendly and supportive team.
The successful applicant will ideally possess a high level of competency in Classical Guitar instruments and ensemble teaching and performance.
We are looking for a candidate who will adopt a flexible approach to their working day and who will embrace the opportunity to work collaboratively within a variety of environments. The successful applicant will be required to teach groups, a range of students from years 5 – 12 in a variety of schools within the Metropolitan area. As a Classical Guitar teacher, you will be expected to conduct ensembles in some of the schools in which you work. You would be responsible for negotiating your own timetable with the schools in your allocation.
The Instrumental Music School Services employs dedicated instrumental teachers who are passionate in their chosen field. There is a particularly close collegial relationship amongst staff that allows for significant professional growth as a teacher and musician.
Our services enhance student learning in music through the provision of instrumental music tuition in schools and school clusters, offering music as part of their curriculum provision in the Arts learning area. The primary function of the Classical Guitar Teacher is to provide a quality music education to students through tuition that embraces the principles of the WA Curriculum and IMSS Pedagogical Framework.
We currently have more than 250 teaching staff who work in over 460 metropolitan and country primary and secondary schools, providing instrumental instruction to approximately 20,000 students from Years 3 to 12. In addition to weekly small group instrumental lessons, students have opportunities to participate in enrichment music activities which combine students working collaboratively across year levels and with students from other schools.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
