Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher - Students at Educational Risk to join our professional and highly committed team. This is a Permanent Part-Time position commencing Term 2, 2021.
The successful applicant will ideally have proven effective leadership, behaviour management skills and the ability to inspire students. This position is integral to the Willetton SHS ethos of all students being successful and seeks to ensure that this incorporates the entire spectrum of abilities including Gifted and Talented and academically talented students. Crucial to this position is the ability to analyse data and report to the Executive to develop strategies and provide support to ensure all students attain the best educational and social outcomes.
Willetton SHS is a top performing public school and the successful applicant will be required to work closely with the Executive and Management teams in the development and tracking of Willetton SHS in relation to the Business Plan and Improvement Targets and school priorities. Providing feedback on progress and areas for further improvement to guide future planning.
The successful applicant should ideally demonstrate the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships through highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. The role will also involve managing a counselling and transition process for students into higher education or alternate pathways. These strategies are integral to enhancing student engagement to ensure high educational outcomes for all students.

Willetton SHS has a student population in excess of 2500 and the school is inclusive and comprehensive providing courses for Years 7 to 12. The school successfully caters for the academic, social and emotional development of students with diverse educational needs including those with English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) background, special needs and gifted and talented students. There are approximately 200 teaching staff and 120 support staff on campus. Willetton staff recognise that students are individuals with different histories, interests, abilities and aptitudes. The school is committed to the intellectual, creative and social development of the students by the provision of stimulating and relevant programs and orderly teaching and classroom practices.
The school offers a number of specialist programs to meet student needs and interests. There are numerous after school sporting teams, debating and poetry clubs. Willetton SHS is a Lead Language School and a Department of Education Teacher Development School in Languages. Willetton SHS prides itself on an ethos that all students should be successful.
As a highly effective educator you will need to possess an excellent understanding of the Western Australian curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements in lower school and the current senior school courses. This knowledge, combined with pedagogical skills enables the development of programs differentiated for the specific learning needs of all students across the full range of abilities.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
