This is a six (6) month fixed term, part-time (0.8FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2021 with possible twelve (12) months extension and/or permanency.
Kelmscott Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an engaging and dedicated English Teacher to join our school. We are looking for a highly competent teacher who has an understanding of instructional strategies and a detailed knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated; student and relationship focused; and able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experiences. You will utilise innovative initiatives and be able to work effectively within a dynamic team. This will involve reflecting and assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and cultivating a safe learning environment.
You will utilise evidence-based teaching practices whilst employing a range of assessment and reporting methods. The position requires a teacher who has excellent interpersonal skills and can foster positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including students, staff and community members.
As the successful applicant, you will lead ongoing improvements in pedagogy, curriculum and programming across Years 7 to 12 and support the development of English programs to achieve set targets in the school Business Plan. Experience in teaching gifted and talented classes and extension classes along, with experience in teaching ATAR English and EALD, and students requiring literacy intervention in lower secondary are highly desirable. Teachers make use of different technologies to achieve student outcomes and are expected to engage students in learning technologies as the basis of active student learning and lesson design.
As the successful applicant, you will demonstrate active participation in professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on your classroom practice to sustain a culture of high-quality teaching and ongoing improvement. We are seeking applicants with knowledge and skills to utilise systemic data such as Student Achievement Information System (SAIS), National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) to address individual student learning needs.
Kelmscott SHS will implement a school-wide Teaching and Learning Instructional Framework addressing high impact teaching strategies. Teachers will design and deliver lessons aligned to the Framework and receive coaching and feedback. We are seeking a highly reflective teacher with a growth mindset and desire for continuous improvement.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
