North Perth Primary School (PS) are seeking a highly motivated and effective leader to fill the role of Deputy Principal.
North Perth PS is an inner-city Independent Public School, established in 1899 with a long and vibrant history. It is desirable that the successful applicant be able to effectively work with and support the current school leadership to continue the school’s improvement agenda which is reflected in the current Business Plan 2020-2022. Two main focus areas provide the foundation of objectives, strategies and targets. These focus areas are Excellence in Teaching; and Positive School Environment; with an emphasis on Literacy, Numeracy, Relationships and Communication. The successful applicant will display a high level of competency in developing staff capacity and a comprehensive understanding of instructional and curriculum knowledge.
The Deputy Principal will provide educational leadership in the school and develop strong community relationships to promote the vision for the future. The successful applicant will have outstanding communication and organisational skills to work in collaboration with the Principal, the Leadership Team, School Board, staff, parent community and students. Successful experience in leading school improvement is desirable.
In addition, it is highly desirable that the successful applicant have experience with the case management of Students at Educational Risk (SAER), including experience in extension, intervention and targeted support.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
