Somerly Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Teacher to join our collaborative, professional team.
The successful applicant will implement a music program for students of mixed abilities, aptitudes and educational needs through planning, preparation, monitoring and assessment including the use of a variety of strategies including technologies. They will understand the different ways in which students learn and the appropriateness of a variety of teaching styles to meet the individual learning needs of each student. They will also possess a sound musical knowledge and technical skill to model and inspire students, working closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
As a valuable member of the teaching staff, you would be responsible for the educational outcomes of the school's Music curriculum and teach music to Years P – 6. This is an exciting opportunity to help create learning and teaching experiences that engage students in classroom music. The Music Teacher will be responsible for the development of the schools rehearsal groups, the school choir and performances, special events and the end of year concert. They will also coordinate the instrumental music program for classical guitar on behalf of The School of Instrumental Music. Engaging the school community in music experiences and performance opportunities would be required when appropriate.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
