This is a ten (10) month fixed term, part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2021
East Waikiki Primary School (PS) are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Noongar Language teacher who has a strong Aboriginal Language background. It will be advantageous that applicants have the language skills, qualifications and cultural understanding to work in a public school.
You will have the ability to guide and engage and motivate all students in understanding the Noongar language and culture with an inclusive learning program. You will need to work in partnership with staff, parents and community to support strong relationships. Applicants will have excellent interpersonal and classroom management skills.
In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications and graduate untrained Aboriginal Languages teachers may be considered.
East Waikiki PS caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our dedicated and professional staff maintain a vibrant learning environment which supports each child, each day to achieve success.
The successful applicant should be willing and able to work in a diverse educational setting, meeting the educational needs of students within a dynamic environment. As the successful applicant, you will also be responsible for planning, teaching, assessing and reporting of students based upon the Australian Curriculum.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
