Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and professional First Aid Officer to join their Corporate Services Team.
The First Aid Officer will be the primary contact for the management and administration of first aid at the school. The Officer will be a vital member of the school’s Student Health and Wellbeing Centre, supporting the school to deliver timely and quality services for all students. The successful applicant will liaise with parents/guardians to collect sick or injured students and to supervise students with self-administration of prescribed medication, as documented. The successful applicant will have a minimum of First Aid and CPR qualifications as well as excellent communication and organisational skills and a caring attitude. The successful applicant will act as the lead for communication and coordination of all first aiders ensuring training and accreditation is up to date and manage the contents and replenishments of the first aid kit. They will maintain records of incidents, student illnesses, and first aid cost centre budgeting and other correspondences. Knowledge of school based computer administration systems is highly desirable.
Harrisdale SHS offers a wonderful opportunity for local students to access a high-quality secondary education close to home. Currently, the school has an enrolment of 1,640 students in Years 7 to 11. In 2022, Harrisdale will become a full Senior High School with Years 7 to 12. Harrisdale is a rapidly growing suburb located approximately 28 kilometres south of the Perth CBD. The school is located on Laverton Crescent, adjacent to the City of Armadale's new playing fields and sports pavilion and Harrisdale Primary School.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Relevant knowledge and expertise in First Aid and associated qualifications.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels and in emergency situations.
- Experience in effective record management, activity recording and ability to use a range of software applications.
- Sound organisational skills to develop effective administrative practices with the ability to work independently and to seek support when required and implement recommendations.

Eligibility and training requirements.
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a current certificate in Occupational First Aid (HLTSS00027)
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
