Onslow Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Program Coordinator to join our friendly team.
The Program Coordinator develops programs to support student achievement through a positive approach to student pastoral care and well-being. The role of Program Coordinator is dynamic, strategic, proactive and hands on. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the Principal and members of the administration team to develop, manage and deliver relevant programs and initiatives to support the school vision, strategic planning, and PBS core values of respect, resilience and responsibility.
The successful applicant must have highly efficient communication skills. You will be able to collaborate very effectively with others to sustain a professional team culture whereby staff feel supported to share effective teaching and learning practices. Having a comprehensive understanding of the Pilbara region and Aboriginal Education will be most helpful in this role.
Onslow Primary School is located in the small Pilbara locality of Onslow, and has been educating locals for over 50 years. We are an integral part of the community, and have developed strong links between the school, our staff, parents and the wider community. Due to our location we are considered part of the Department of Education's Remote Teaching Service where staff are appointed through a merit selection process.
We cater for students from Kindy to Year 12 and offer a nurturing and stimulating learning environment where we recognise each child's effort and initiative. We have clear behaviour expectations 'Be Safe', Be Caring', Be Respectful', and 'Be Your Best' which provide a positive learning environment to assist students achieve improved academic and behaviour outcomes as a result of increased engagement with learning.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs);
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
