The Business and Customer Services Directorate is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Learning and Development Advisor in the Business Capability branch.
The Training and Development Advisor will work with stakeholders across business areas to scope, design and develop operational learning programs and resources consistent with relevant competency frameworks; business needs and learning requirements. The role will assist with the development online learning solutions (where suitable) and developing evaluation strategies to demonstrate learning program effectiveness. The successful applicant will require considerable skills and experience in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of adult learning and development programs; with well-developed project management and organisational skills.
The Business Capability branch supports the objectives and outcomes of clients by providing value for money corporate services through streamlined business systems and processes and skilled and motivated people.
The branch leads and advises on operation direction and systemic improvement initiatives and outcomes, to continually improve customer service delivery.
The branch is responsible for initiating, managing and coordinating programs to enhance the capability and capacity of principals, manager’s corporate services, school corporate services staff and central services staff across the Department.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Considerable skills and experience in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of adult learning and development programs (particularly competency based training and assessment resources).
- Well developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate, liaise and negotiate with individuals at all levels.
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to identify problems and provide overviews and strategies to address them.
- Well developed project management and organisational skills, including management of priorities and timelines while working independently.
- Proficiency in the use of technology, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
