Woodvale Secondary College (SC) is seeking to employ a dedicated, effective and innovative leader who has sound knowledge and demonstrated skills in administering and leading secondary student cohorts as well as system data management platforms.
The successful applicant will ideally have experience with Student Services policies and practices, coordinating learning teams and line managing staff. Ideally, they will also have experience in Vocational Education and Training.
While at this stage the main component of the portfolio for the position is working with the Year 10, 11 and 12 cohorts, flexibility to work with other year levels could arise in the future. It is essential that the successful applicant has a working knowledge of senior school requirements, particularly WACE requirements.
The successful applicant will be required to communicate the vision of the College and secondary programs while also embracing the College’s commitment to ongoing improvement. They will be a spokesperson and ambassador for the College, at times representing the principal, and regularly interacting with all members of the College and wider community.
The ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a whole-school setting, and working as part of an executive and senior leadership team, are essential requirements of the role. The successful applicant will use effective change management strategies to lead the College community to continually reflect on practices and data, and to develop opportunities for improvement and engagement. She or he will have exemplary interpersonal skills and sound knowledge of how to support the College’s Independent Public School structure.
Woodvale SC is at the forefront of the use of technology in public schools. The successful applicant will have well developed Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills and the capacity to work collegially in a very busy team environment.

Woodvale SC is located some 20 kilometres north of the city of Perth, and has approximately 1400 students from Years 7 to 12. The College enjoys the expertise of highly trained staff and the stability of small staff turnover. In recent years the College has provided many nominations for the WA Education Awards.
Academically, Woodvale SC students perform at a level above the State average.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
