Cloverdale Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join their leadership team in the role of Deputy Principal.

As the Deputy Principal you will be required to support the Principal in providing educational leadership and management of the school in a number of focus areas including implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum, Positive Behaviour Support and Student Services. To be successful in this role, you will be a passionate educator, committed to making a difference in the lives of young people and, you will possess the ability to build and maintain relationships. You will be expected to model commitment to whole school strategies and work collaboratively as part of a team to maximise student outcomes. Ideally, you will possess the ability to contribute to strategic and operational planning, along with an extensive understanding of the key issues facing primary schools in the 21st century.
The Deputy Principal will have strong interpersonal skills in dealing with staff, students, parents, and community members, with a view to solving problems and developing priorities. Strengths in curriculum and understanding of effective pedagogy, able to support in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and the use of data is also desirable.
Cloverdale PS is a vibrant and exciting school environment and is highly regarded by the local community. It is located in the inner metropolitan suburb of Cloverdale, 9 kilometres from the Perth CBD. There is a strong partnership that exists between the school and the community and students and parents fully support the school uniform policy and school expectations. The school also works closely with the onsite Cloverdale Education Support Centre, sharing resources, buildings and expertise. As such, the successful applicant should be inclusive and develop a strong working relationship with our partner school.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
