Appointment Pool
Tom Price Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Vocational Education and Training Support Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2022.
Suitable applicants will be responsible for providing administrative support ensuring the efficient operation of the VET/Workplace Learning Office. This will involve the use of multiple student databases such as Compass, Student Information System (SIS) and Reporting to Parents, to effectively manage student enrolments, progress and completion of their Vocational programs. Suitable applicants will be required to ensure administrative compliance with relevant policies and guidelines relating to the VET and Workplace Learning Programs.
The VET Support Officer is also required to undertake student-related activities such as providing limited career information and advice, assisting the VET Coordinator with the promotion and participation of students in relevant external vocational programs.
Tom Price SHS supports the education programs of - ATAR, VET, social and sporting. Our academic program is reinforced by the school's strong partnership with the University of WA (ASPIRE) which has successfully supported and enabled our Year 12 Tertiary bound students to be accepted into university. Our VET program, supported by local businesses and industry, enables your child to participate in meaningful and authentic learning experiences that provide students with the opportunity to achieve Certificate II (or above) level nationally accredited vocational qualifications. In partnership with the Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation, and hosted by the Follow the Dream program, our Indigenous students are supported to achieve success at Tom Price SHS.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
- Sound ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Effective planning and organisational skills and experience in providing administrative support.
- Good verbal and written communication skills including application of customer service principles and practices.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
