Appointment Pool
The Disability Services and Support Branch (DSS) are seeking to establish a pool of School Psychologist Consultants for appointment to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2021 and 2022. The opportunity for an immediate start is available in 2021 and positions will be filled through the pool at any time for commencements within this period.
As a School Psychologist Consultant, you will be part of a team deliveringtimely, clinically sound advice to School Psychologists and Lead School Psychologists across the state in face-to-face and e-modes of consultation. This role will see you facilitate the quality assurance and improvement of psychological practice and disability resourcing in the state. This role will require you to work flexibly and cooperatively within a diverse and skilled team and to build strong working relationships by regularly communicating with a range of internal and external contacts.

Staff working within the Student Support Services Directorate work as a collaborative integrated team on a range of priorities as they arise. As such, applicants should be flexible, able to work both collaboratively and independently and able to contribute to the work of the Directorate across a range of areas.
The suitable applicants will possess highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to successfully instruct and mentor their colleagues whilst undertaking high-level consultations, collaborations and negotiations with stakeholders to achieve outcomes for students with disability. They will work as part of a supportive and collaborative team of school psychologists within the collaborative structures of Statewide Services and effectively contribute to the identification, development, planning and implementation of branch priorities and the associate documentation. As such, the suitable applicants should be flexible, able to work both collaboratively and independently, and be able to contribute to the work of the branch in a range of areas.
As a member of the team, you will be working in consultation with DSS and School Psychology Service teams to support complex case management and intervention for students with disability in a range of school environments. You will also be responsible for system level outcomes across key projects and the continual capacity building of the support offered to schools.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements (selection criteria):
- High-level knowledge and experience in providing specialist consultation, evidence-based assessment and interventions within an organisational change model.
- Highly developed skills in applying specialist knowledge and the development and evaluation of contemporary approaches and interventions.
- High-level ability to communicate and clarify complex concepts, provide feedback and critical evaluation of the management of complex and challenging issues.
- High-level strategic leadership skills and ability to build capacity, influence systemic policy undertake interventions and prevention programs and assist schools to formulate and implement responses to address identified needs.
- High-level experience in coordinating specialised support and in providing appropriate professional learning to a variety of audiences.
- High-level oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team and with a range of internal and external clients.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA); and
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching (minimum one year); or
- hold a Graduate Diploma in School Psychology (or equivalent); or
- have undertaken a minimum placement of 40 days in the school education sector as part of higher degree studies in psychology; or
- have worked a minimum of three years full-time (or equivalent part-time) as a school psychologist (or equivalent position).

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
