O’Connor Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Music Teacher to join our dynamic team.
The successful applicant will implement a music program for students of mixed abilities, aptitudes and educational needs through planning, preparation, monitoring and assessment using a variety of technologies. They will understand the different ways in which students learn and the appropriateness of a variety of teaching styles to meet the individual learning needs of each student. They will also possess a sound musical knowledge and technical skill to model and inspire students, working closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
As a valuable member of the teaching staff, you would be responsible for the educational outcomes of the school's Music curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity to help create a unique and first class learning and teaching environment.

O'Connor is located in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and was named after Charles Yelverton O'Connor, the Chief Engineer for Western Australia from 1891 until his death in 1902. C Y O'Connor designed and, for the most part, guided the construction of the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme that first brought water to Kalgoorlie in 1903, as it does today. Kalgoorlie-Boulder has a population of over 30,000 and lies 600 km east of Perth. It is primarily a mining and service city. O'Connor Primary was constructed in 1996 and has grown steadily to reach a population of over 800 students from Kindergarten to Year Six.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
