At Roebourne DHS we seek to engage young people in learning. We encourage all students to identify and pursue their interests and passions. We want to prepare our young people uncommonly well for post-school life and we start that by engaging students in the community through a number of programs. We aim to be strongly connected with families, and we do this regularly. We have high expectations of each and every student to do the best they can and be the best they can be.
Roebourne DHS is a small caring and supportive educative community that encourages students and staff to achieve their potential through our shared ethos of "learning together". Roebourne DHS caters to students from Kindergarten to Year 12, with approximately 99% of its cohort being Aboriginal. Although there are a number of language groups in Roebourne, the students generally come from three main language groups - the Ngarluma people who are the traditional owners of the land, the Yindjibarndi people and the Banyjima people. The students speak a range of languages as well as Aboriginal English. All staff are expected to adopt and to use ESL strategies for most of the students throughout the school.
Roebourne DHS is located in the town bearing its name in the Pilbara. The school caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. We offer differentiated programs with Big Picture Education at the core in high school.
