Serpentine Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teacher to join their friendly team. The appointment will initially be for 12 months fixed term full time in a primary classroom between years 2-4, yet to be determined. As such the successful applicant will need to be flexible and adaptable.
To be successful in this role, you will be have knowledge and understanding of the effective use of explicit teaching strategies and be dedicated and committed to improving student learning through continual teacher improvement and accountability. Serpentine PS uses an explicit teaching approach focusing on four pillars of teaching: teacher directed learning, explicit instruction, moving children’s knowledge from short term to long term memory, and effective relationships with students. The successful applicant will ideally be able to embrace this vision of teaching and learning and will have a passion for, and a sound understanding of, explicit teaching.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
