In addition, the successful applicant must have sound organisational abilities and demonstrated leadership skills. Kenwick School is an Independent Public School of choice that teaches students aged 4-19 years, with wide ranging special educational needs. Our projected 2021 enrolment is 76 students. These include severe to profound intellectual disabilities, sensory and physical impairments; as well as other complex medical and behavioural conditions. Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, monitor and adjust educational programs to address the needs of students with severe to profound intellectual disabilities and additional impairments.
- Responsive, proactive management of complex and challenging behaviours (including, as appropriate, physical restraint and escorts).
- Leading an Education Assistant team and working closely with other professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for students;
- Lead a collaborative approach to curriculum planning; Model exemplary classroom practice;
- Assist in the development and implementation of innovative classroom practices;
- Integrate information technology into the curriculum;
- Engage in professional learning, as required, to upgrade competencies.
- Assist with the pastoral care of students and liaise with parents as required.
Other: Critical to this position are strong leadership and Positive Social Development (traditionally termed as behaviour management). Our school has several students who display complex, challenging and limited behavioural repertoires which require proactive and incisive teaching and support.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
