The School of Special Educational Needs: Behaviour and Engagement (SSEN: BE) (Pilbara Engagement Centre - South Hedland) is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher - Student Behaviour Management to join our team.
The successful applicant will ideally possess interpersonal skills that will enable them to work as part of a team delivering professional learning. Strengths in Behaviour Management and knowledge of current behaviour support principles and practice, consistent with the Department of Education Managing Student Behaviour and having knowledge and training in WA Positive Behaviour Support (WAPBS) and Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) is desirable for this position. Exhibiting awareness of adult learning principles is also a key component of this role.
The SSEN: BE provides educational support and services to schools for students with extreme, complex and challenging behaviours across a Kindergarten to Year 12 context. A continuum of consultative support to schools for students is delivered through 13 engagement centres and the Midland Learning Academy. The services of the engagement centres and the Academy are coordinated through SSEN: BE which provides the administrative structure that oversees and manages these services as a State-wide model of support for schools, teachers and students. The services complement other teams working in networks, regions and schools, supporting a greater number of students across the state.
The successful applicant will be located at the Pilbara Engagement Centre in South Hedland. This position will involve the successful applicant travelling to schools in the Pilbara region to provide support. The successful applicant will also be required to attend associated training and school development days in Perth as our main school site operates out of Statewide Services Centre in Padbury. Your travel will involve overnight stays. You may also be required to travel across our school. Suitable applicants will also need to hold and maintain a current WA drivers licence. There is also flexibility for the successful applicant to be based in Karratha and continue to support schools throughout the Pilbara region.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;

Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
