This is a seven (7) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 4, 2020
Comet Bay College is seeking to appoint a caring individual to the role of First Aid Officer.
The successful applicant will be the primary contact for the management and administration of first aid at the school. The First Aid Officer coordinates with parents/guardians to collect sick or injured students and supervises students with self-administration of prescribed medication, as documented.
The College has a successful and highly competitive Australian Football Specialist Program. The Visual and Performing Arts also offer extension classes in Drama, Dance and Art to selected students in Years 7 to 10. Comet Bay College is a modern innovative Independent Public School that caters for Year 7 to Year 12 students and is located one kilometre from the coast in the vibrant community of Secret Harbour. The College boasts state of the art facilities that include specialist science laboratories, lecture theatre, fitness centre, metal fabrication, modern industrial food studio and graphics/mechatronics studio.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Relevant knowledge and expertise in First Aid and associated qualifications.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels and in emergency situations.
- Experience in effective record management, activity recording and ability to use a range of software applications.
- Sound organisational skills to develop effective administrative practices with the ability to work independently and to seek support when required and implement recommendations.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- hold a current certificate in Occupational First Aid (HSTSS00027);
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
