This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2021.
Butler College is seeking to appoint a dynamic Program Coordinator to work alongside the current Student Services Program Coordinator. The successful applicant will help to drive the continued implementation of whole school initiatives (Positive Behaviour Support [PBS] and Classroom Management Strategies [CMS]) and support the college ethos of ‘a college that cares’.
The successful applicant will have strong communication skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with staff, outside agencies and all members of the Butler College community. They will have strong problem solving skills and an ability to plan strategically with a view to the future wellbeing of all students at the college. The ability to provide innovative and practical solutions to problems and challenges with a focus on strong classroom management, would be an advantage. The role will require an excellent understanding of relevant policies, data analysis and student with special needs.
The Program Coordinator- Student Services will display exemplary mediation and conflict management skills and be experienced in writing and implementing plans including Escalation Profiles, Risk Management, Attendance Intervention and Individual Behaviour Support plans. An ability to manage a team trained in Mental Health First Aid is also desirable. We are an integrated college, catering to the needs of a wide range of students, some with high level Special Needs. The successful applicant will work with our Specialist team to cater to the support needs of all students.
We are seeking a Program Coordinator with a positive and restorative attitude toward staff and students and a commitment to maintain and improve our highly successful programs and processes.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
