Brabham Primary School (PS) is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Cleaner in Charge who takes pride in being responsible for providing a high standard of cleanliness within the workplace.
They will inspire and lead a team of cleaning staff to ensure the school environment is maintained in accordance with Department of Education policies and procedures. The successful applicant will have a sound knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices. It is desirable for applicants to have experience in supervising staff, as the successful applicant will work alongside school staff and manage staff performance in consultation with the Manager Corporate Services.
In addition to the above, the Cleaner is Charge will liaise with the Manager Corporate Services on all cleaning matters, and record and respond to issues and concerns detailed in the communication book. They will maintain the cleaner’s time book, arrange relief staff, be responsible for monitoring and ordering stock supplies, open and lock the school, including setting the security alarm system.
Brabham PS is a new school opening in the 2021 school year. Stage 1 of the school will accommodate 540 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and is located on Lakefield Drive, within the rapidly growing suburb of Brabham (located near Whiteman Park and the Swan Valley). It is intended that the school will be based on a 'one school' model with integrated education support capacity, planned for Stage 2.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement.
- Complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable.
- Complete any other training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
