Broome Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to establish a pool of a dedicated and enthusiastic Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
The suitable applicants will be committed to excellence in teaching, have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills as well as highly developed interpersonal skills. Teachers in an education support environment will positively manage a team of education assistants within their classroom.
The Education Support Teacher will have care and consideration for special educational needs students and have highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice. Applicants with knowledge and experience in working with students with moderate/ severe and profound disabilities are encouraged to apply.
The development of positive, respectful relationships between staff, students and families is a high priority at Broome SHS. Suitable applicants will be student and relationship focused, enthusiastic, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with the Aboriginal Education Team and staff within the entire school community. They will be strong communicators with excellent interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will be self-reflective and will constantly assess the effectiveness of teaching practice. They will embrace the integration of Information and Communications Technology to create an environment conducive to learning as well as provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs. Furthermore, the applicants will embrace cross cultural relationships and work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families and the wider community in order to deliver meaningful and engaging student experiences within and outside the classroom.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
