This is a thirty-six (36) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2021.
Laverton School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teacher to join their team. You will be located at Mulga Queen Annex, which is approximately 100km from Laverton.
As the successful applicant, you will be relationship focused with a consistent and transparent classroom management approach. You will be enthusiastic, seek opportunities for innovation and leadership, and desirably have the proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
You will need to be a healthy role model for indigenous students, physically, socially and emotionally. Great interpersonal skills are needed to work with families and students effectively as well as liaising with community agencies to support families and students. You will share information with parents about curriculum content in partnership with class teachers and also be competent using ICT with students and for record keeping and communication.
To be successful in this role you will have a strong work ethic and a deep knowledge and understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum Outline. You should be proactive in participating in whole school, and phase planning and curriculum development. The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate an exceptionally high level of collaborative practice, together with interpersonal skills to enable effective participation and engagement.
Laverton School is a K-12 school on Wangkatja Land and the majority of our students are from the Wangkatja Nation. Laverton School will be introducing Wangkatja language lessons and there is an expectation that school staff join students in acquiring and using language. Staff at Laverton School have mutually respectful relationships with families and the wider local community. We are committed to a connected autonomy, knowing every student and their needs well and wrapping around the whole child from K-12. Retaining our students to the end of Year 12 is our priority.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
