This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2021.
As part of Southern River College’s (SRC) focus to proactively support student and staff wellbeing, we are looking for a dynamic leader who is looking for a rewarding, challenging and innovative opportunity to make a difference to students who require interventional supports and case management for complex behaviours. The role requires understanding of complex needs, interventions that may support the young person and the ability to build good relationships with all stakeholders in case management processes. In this role you will align with interagency support services, and support staff in working with students with complex needs and provide leadership in building positive skillsets and understandings. The ability to apply best practice research to develop and lead our centre is desirable.
The role of Program Coordinator – Complex Behaviour is dynamic, strategic, proactive, and hands on. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the Well Being personnel and Executive Team to develop, manage and deliver relevant programs and initiatives to support the school's core values. They will be an effective communicator and be able to handle difficult conversations in a compassionate and empathetic way.
As Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on students in relation to attendance, behaviour, social/emotional wellbeing, educational engagement and Students at Educational Risk. This role is an integral part of our Well Being Team and the successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to motivate and lead by example working across the school and providing the support and intervention strategies for Tier 3 students. You will be required to provide support to teachers and curriculum leaders in the area of student wellbeing and work with a collaborative team of professional colleagues to develop a student case management approach. To ensure high quality outcomes for students, the Program Coordinator will be highly regarded to build positive, professional working relationships with students, staff, parents and agencies.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
