West Beechboro Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint an effective, committed and enthusiastic teacher to teach Auslan commencing in 2021.
We are seeking an applicant with the appropriate primary teaching qualifications, ideally with the experience in teaching students across a range of year levels, and possessing a high level of knowledge and skill in teaching Auslan as a Languages subject, in order to provide our school community opportunities to develop intercultural capabilities, understanding and respect for others, appreciation of diversity and openness to different perspectives and experiences.

We are seeking a highly competent teacher, with well-established classroom management skills, who can work in a cooperative environment, add to the culture of the school as a learning community and contribute to student and staff development in Auslan. As a teacher in our school, you will have a passion for effective instruction and a commitment to implementing whole school strategies. The incorporation of technology to engage students and challenge learning in a supportive and safe environment is central to this role.
West Beechboro PS is an Independent Public School catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our school is culturally diverse and educates students from many backgrounds. We offer a variety of integrated learning programs. While literacy and numeracy are priority areas, science, technology, arts and humanities are interwoven to ensure students receive a holistic, well-balanced, education. Our staff continually review our teaching framework to ensure consistent learning and communication is delivered to the school community.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
