Appointment Pool
Yanchep Secondary College (YSC) are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
The role of the Home Economics Assistant will include assisting with the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs by preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials and resources for use in classes, displays and demonstrations as well as assist with the clean and safe storage of items after classes and activities. There is also a requirement to clean during the school vacation periods, which includes a thorough clean of all equipment and fixtures and fittings including all high ledges and internal windows as per department requirements.
You will be required to assist with the management of resources by maintaining and updating the inventory list and monitoring stock levels.
Suitable applicants will ideally be able to work and communicate effectively in a team environment as well as autonomously. You should be able to demonstrate initiative and be able to prioritise tasks and be highly organised in order to achieve this consistently. The ability to use various Microsoft packages and conduct research on the internet is highly desirable. Ideally, the suitable applicant will be highly motivated, energetic, enthusiastic, flexible and reliable.
YSC provides young people with a high quality, comprehensive education. YSC opened in 2018 in a brand new purpose built school, designed to meet the needs of our students. The school is currently going through a refurbishment of areas after additional buildings have been added. This includes a purpose built hospitality teaching area and cafe. We have programs for students from Year 7 to 12. Our school has specialist teachers, a challenging curriculum that inspires excellence, and many options and pathways for students to succeed, including university, further training or employment.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with students, parents and teaching professionals.
- Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs to students.
- Ability to assist with the general health and wellbeing of students.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
Training
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
