We are seeking a highly collaborative Specialist Media Arts Teacher - who preferably has a strong background in Media Arts to join our team.
To be successful in this role, applicants should be highly competent, dedicated, and creative in teaching Media Arts using existing and emerging technologies to explore imagery, text and sound. It will be highly regarded to have experience in teaching Media Arts or come from a Media Arts field/background. Applicants must use Media Arts examples when addressing the criteria.
The successful applicant will ideally have the professional knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant media arts curriculum and have proven success working with students from years PP - 6. In addition, the successful applicant should be confident about teaching students to be critically aware of ways media is culturally used and negotiated as well as being able to apply new and innovative approaches to technology. It is expected that ICT will be an integral part of the program delivered.
The successful applicant will support the implementation of the school’s Business Plan, work and teach in a highly collaborative environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives, and have a strong evidence based approach to teaching. Adopting inclusive practices, differentiating the curriculum and building positive relationships with students, staff and the community are important components of the role.
Hillcrest PS was founded in 1950 and is prominently situated on the crest of a hill overlooking the City of Bayswater. Tracing its history to before establishment the local Wadjuk people used the distinctive bush setting and sweeping views as a gathering place to share food and impart the wisdom and knowledge of crafting tools, spears and cooking implements. This relationship with Noongar Land is recognised in the naming of several key buildings. The most notable is our Administration opened in 2016 which is proudly inscribed with the words 'Malya-Ba Mia' signifying our 'Place of Learning'.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
