This is a six (6) month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP with possible extension and/or permanency
The Financial Planning and Resourcing directorate is seeking to appoint a highly dedicated individual to the role of Manager – School Funding.
The Manager - School Funding provides complex high-level advice at a senior level on systemic reform initiatives, directions and outcomes in relation to needs-based school funding, and the effectiveness and implications of initiatives on school funding. The role requires an individual with high-level analytical and conceptual skills, as well as the skills to effectively lead a team and liaise with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level. This role is suited to a high performing professional from a finance, actuarial, economics, or related field.
The Department invites applicants from industry, public sector or not for profit organisations.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- High-level knowledge and understanding of contemporary trends in complex resource allocation models.
- High-level skills and experience to effectively plan, develop, deliver and monitor a complex resource allocation model, including the ability to negotiate the provision and allocation of funding to address operational needs and agreed outcomes.
- Strategic leadership skills and experience in managing human, physical, financial, technological and information resources.
- High-level verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level and to build strong relationships.
- High-level skills and experience in recognising opportunities to enhance product/service delivery and capitalise on these through effective change strategies.
- High-level skills and experience in achieving outcomes and delivering quality products and services consistent with customer needs and defined quality expectations, including timeliness.
- High-level analytical and conceptual skills to provide innovative solutions to complex problems.
- High-level knowledge and understanding of national and international trends and issues relating to the core functions of the Branch.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline; and
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
