This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2021

Karrinyup Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic School Officer.

The successful applicant will possess good verbal and written communication skills, with a thorough understanding of how to apply customer service principles and practices. You will also present good interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment. Ideally, you will have the ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spread sheets and word processing. Experience in providing administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively would also be highly desirable.

The successful applicant will undertake reception duties including greeting visitors, answering the telephone and responding to routine enquiries and requests for information. The School Officer will provide assistance with entering student enrolment data, maintain student attendance records and absenteeism reports. Other duties will include the ability to provide general clerical and administrative support including preparing correspondence, newsletters, notices and other materials. The School Officer will distribute and collect documents, forms and mail, and collect and receipt monies in accordance with Departmental procedures. They will also be responsible for maintaining office equipment including monitoring and ordering office consumables.

The successful applicant will demonstrate care, be curious about learning and about learners, be invested in the school and the community.  We are seeking applicants who possess the ability to be reflective of themselves and their practice.

Strong attention to detail and being able to maintain high levels of accuracy will be highly desirable as well as prior experience using a range of application software packages such as Student Information System (SIS), RM Billing, Connect, Passtab and Microsoft Office along with school promotion, purchasing and be an assistant to the Principal.  In addition, experience with managing social media platforms and school websites will be highly regarded.  Successful applicants will have the skills to competently work without supervision or direction.

About the school

Karrinyup PS is an Independent Public School catering to 525 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. It is located just 15 minutes from the CBD and situated in close proximity to one of the largest suburban shopping centres in Perth, as well as Trigg and Scarborough Beaches. The school grounds are a feature, with large amounts of well shaded area and well maintained water-wise native Australian garden beds, which all combine to provide a pleasant outlook and recreational space for not only the school community, but the community as a whole.

The grounds include multi-purpose hard courts, two ovals and specialised playgrounds that have a focus on 'Nature Play'. Classrooms are air-conditioned and networked with multi-media teaching facilities and a 'before and after school care' facility operates at the school.

Karrinyup PS aims at all times to provide a learning environment that inspires children to achieve to their full academic, creative, social and physical potential. Staff work collaboratively in Professional Learning Teams to plan outcomes for students, with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy. We believe that quality teaching and learning programs will enable our students to develop the necessary skills to become confident and independent learners.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
