Bunbury Senior High School (SHS), 2019 Secondary School of the Year; is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified passionate and dedicated teacher of Digital and Design Technologies, ready to inspire self-belief, in a 1.0FTE position beginning Term 1, 2021.
The successful applicant would possess excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum; be able to deliver content in an engaging manner; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be a highly effective team member. We are seeking an experienced teacher with a track record of achieving excellent student outcomes. We value the linking of learning with real world experiences and the currency students can take into pathways beyond school.
Bunbury SHS, has a wide variety of courses from Year 7-12 including: Digital Technologies, Applied Information Technology (ATAR), Robotics, Metal, Wood and the integration of technology using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and drawing software to utilise 3D printers and laser cutters. The successful applicants will ideally also have a strong working knowledge of design and digital teaching strategies to build and implement programs with a STEM focus.

Professional knowledge on instructional skills, theories, concepts and tactics, together with knowledge of Lemov’s strategies in developing high expectations is a focus of curriculum delivery at Bunbury SHS. Consequently, our teacher practice fosters a safe and accountable learning environment is engaging and pushes students to higher order thinking. There is a shared instructional framework. Bunbury SHS was established in 1918 and is built on an impressive site on one of the city of Bunbury's highest points, Boulter's Heights. It is the fourth oldest government school in the state; thus is entrenched in history and has very loyal and strong support from a large and diverse group of former students, parents and staff. To be suitable for a teaching role at Bunbury Senior High School, the applicant must be student and relationship focused, with effective interpersonal skills. The applicant will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
Bunbury SHS is an Independent Public School and this flexibility in the way business is done enables full support of the range of special programs that are on offer in the school. These include the Bunbury Elite Sports Training (BEST) Program and the Visual Art Specialist Program (VASP).
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
