Kelmscott Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool for appointments for fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
Kelmscott SHS is looking to employ English teachers who demonstrate high levels of commitment, adaptability and collaboration. Motivated by our school vision, the English teacher will play an active role in driving this vision alongside our talented team of English teachers.
You will exhibit innovation and creativity in your classroom practices and cater for student diversity. You will have the required experience, knowledge and skills to differentiate your teaching; provide contemporary and meaningful learning experiences for all student cohorts; and apply a broad range of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. The suitable applicant will possess an engaging and energetic teaching style, promoting an environment of active and positive learning in their classroom.
Demonstrating effective interpersonal skills, the successful applicant will work closely with students and their families; colleagues; and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for all students. It is highly desirable that the successful applicant is able to understand instructional and curriculum design; exhibit self-reflective practices with a focus on quality teaching; and is able to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment. You will be able to demonstrate highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. The successful applicant will demonstrate initiative, motivation and possess the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently.
As the successful applicant, you will have a sound understanding of the WA English Curriculum. You will lead ongoing improvements in pedagogy, curriculum and programming across Years 7 to 12 and support the English programs to achieve set targets in the school Business Plan. Experience in teaching gifted and talented classes and extension classes along, with experience in teaching ATAR English and EALD, and students requiring literacy intervention in lower secondary are highly desirable.
As the successful applicant, you will demonstrate active participation in professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on your classroom practice to sustain a culture of high-quality teaching and ongoing improvement. We are seeking applicants with knowledge and skills to utilise systemic data such as Student Achievement Information System (SAIS), National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) to address individual student learning needs.

The school also offers a range of Kelmscott Extension Programs (KEP) in Mathematics, Science, English and Humanities and Social Sciences. We are only one of two schools to provide Gifted and Talented online to rural areas.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
