Bridgetown High School (HS) is seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Teacher – Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) and English teacher to join their collaborative and positive team.
The successful applicant will be a conscientious and dedicated Secondary Teacher with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning supported by technology. They will be actively involved both within the school and wider community, highly reflective about their teaching practice and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation. Applicants require a proven knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and demonstrated experience in delivering positive outcomes for students. A capacity and willingness to lead the development and delivery of school programs and priorities in the area of English and HASS would be viewed favourably.
The successful applicant will demonstrate the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant curriculum using a positive, student-focused approach, and have proven success working with students across a range of ability levels. Strong use of communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks to establish strong community partnerships, are essential. The successful applicant will be relationship focused with a consistent and transparent classroom management approach. They will be enthusiastic, seek opportunities for innovation and leadership, and have the proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Bridgetown HS is a small, unique school with friendly staff and students located 270km south of Perth, on the Blackwood River in the South West region of Western Australia and proudly meets the needs of local students in Years 7 to 10.
Our students are encouraged to become responsible learners within the school and be active participants in many of the school's decision-making processes. We focus on developing their critical and creative thinking skills, as well as their problem-solving skills, to became active and informed citizens of the future.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
