This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2021 with possible extension and/or permanency
South Lake Primary School (PS) is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher – Primary.
A strong, supportive and inclusive culture with a positive school climate is very evident at South Lake PS based on reflecting the school’s community desire to provide a safe, caring and inclusive teaching and learning environment for children and staff. The committed teaching staff is aware of the nature of the local community and endeavours to adapt the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of the students while providing a wide range of additional programs to engage them. A collaborative working culture with active involvement of all staff, is a feature of the school and facilitates not only whole-school approaches to the implementation of programs and strategies but re-enforcing the culture of support, care and belonging.
Articulated in the South Lake PS IPS Business Plan, whole of school approaches are considered essential to improve outcomes in student learning and successful whole of school curriculum planning. Suitable applicants will need to demonstrate a proven strong focus on developing the emotional health and wellbeing of students, experience in PBS / CMS, as well as boosting positive partnerships with families and the wider community.
Knowledge, understanding and experience would be desirable in implementing: The Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework; GradeXpert; Oxford Maths; Primary Connections; Talk 4 Writing; Talk 4 reading; Letters and Sounds / Jolly Grammar; Guided Reading and importantly Explicit Instruction.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;

Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
